Behringer BX1 synth is inspired by the classic Yamaha CS-80 and DX1, with more teases at NAMM 2025
Upon its hotly-anticipated return to the NAMM Show, Behringer has debuted the BX1 synthesizer, inspired by Yamaha’s DX1 FM synthesizer and the Yamaha CS-80. We played the functional unit but we’re told that it’s on show only as a prototype. Behringer’s Pro-16 and JT-16 synths are also on show as prototypes.

“Music is back – thanks to streaming and the vinyl revival”: UK music sales reached record high in 2024
UK music sales in 2024 reached a record high – and it’s mostly thanks to streaming and vinyl.
Altogether, music fans spent £2.38 billion on subscriptions to streaming services and physical music, particularly vinyl. Consequently, music revenue jumped by 7.4 per cent in 2024, according to the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA). Sales of vinyl have also increased for the 17th year running.
UK government plans to crack down on ticket touts with potential cap on resale prices
The plans follow comments from Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who back in September confirmed that the government would be consulting on the future of the law in regards to dynamic pricing, which caused mass frustration following the soaring costs of tickets for Oasis’ reunion tour. A large number of tickets were then also listed on resale sites for thousands of pounds.

According to Liz Pelly’s findings in Harper’s Magazine, the ghost artists are appearing on all sorts of popular playlists from jazz and classical to lo-fi hip-hop. It effectively lowers the amount of royalties Spotify pays genuine musicians while increasing their overall profit margins.
